Why We Need To Control House Mice
Mice are a public health pest and can cause serious harm, as they spread nasty diseases such as Salmonella and Listeria to humans through their urine, droppings and bedding.  This puts anyone with an infestation at risk of food poisoning. As they scurry around, they carry dirt and bacteria with them, transferring it to your counter tops, cabinets, pantry and anywhere else they travel.
House mice can also cause a lot of property damage, due to their compulsive need to gnaw to maintain their teeth at a constant length. Electric cables, water and gas pipes, packaging and woodwork may all be seriously damaged by mice - many instances of electrical fires and floods have been attributed to them.

House Mice Facts and Identification
The house mouse (Mus Musculus) is classed as a commensal rodent, meaning it lives in close proximity to man, and it is said that they are so dependent on us that should humans die out, so too would house mice. They are believed to have arrived in Britain around the 10th century BC, and have been identified from pre-Roman, Iron Age deposits.
The house mouse is very common in a wide range of urban and rural buildings in the UK, they are active all year round, they are very rarely found outside and do not live in sewers.
They vary in colour from grey/dark grey to almost black, have soft fur and a tail that is about the same length as their head and body. The underbelly can be slightly paler than the body, but not markedly so. This is quite different from a wood mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus), which has a walnut brown fur on its body and white underbelly.
